Montague Gardens
The water supply main to the Montague Gardens area will be temporarily shut down on Sunday, 23 October 2022 from 06:00 until 18:00.
This will allow the maintenance team the opportunity to safely install a series of control valves ranging from 300mm diameter to 500mm diameter on the local water supply network.
The Water and Sanitation Directorate needs to urgently upgrade the water supply network and installing a range of control valves of various diameters will help prevent a large area being shut off when there is a pipe burst in the area.
This work forms part of the City's water supply infrastructure upgrade project which specifically focuses on the water distribution network.
Vanguard Estate
The water supply into Vanguard Estate will be temporarily shut down from Thursday, 27 October 2022, at 21:00 overnight until Friday, 28 October 2022, at 04:00.
This will enable the maintenance team to safely replace the faulty 300mm diameter inline water meter on the water supply main in this area.
This work forms part of the proactive maintenance programme for the City's bulk water infrastructure which ensures continued water supply to the consumers through the reduction of unaccounted-for water.
A section of Hout Bay
The water supply from the Hout Bay Reservoir will be temporarily shut down on Thursday, 27 October 2022 from 08:30 until 16:00.
This will enable the maintenance crew to safely cut in a T-connection on the 350mm diameter water main from the Hout Bay Reservoir to install a control valve. This will result in the disruption of the water supply to a section of Hout Bay including Scotts Estate, Penzance Estate and the area in between, up to Andrews Road.
This work will afford the operations team the opportunity to do additional service upgrades without any water supply disruptions.
A tanker will roam between the Hout Bay Police Station and the Shell Garage in the Hout Bay Main Road to provide water for domestic consumption.
· Residents are advised to bring their own clean containers.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience, but it is imperative that it maintains and upgrades its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
